On May 29th, 2020, SEN Consulting Joint Stock Company organized an online conference on Risk Assessment and Emergency Response in hydropower industry. The conference attracted the participation of more than 40 experts from leading units in the electricity industry such as Electricity Vietnam Corporation, GENCO 2, PECC2, PECC3, PECC4, and hydropower companies such as Hoa Binh, Son La, Dong Nai 5, Tri An, Southern, Thac Mo, Da Nhim – Thuan Ham -Da Mi, Can Don, Sesan Hydropower Company, etc., …
The conference was opened with the speech of Mr. Nguyen Anh Tho – Deputy General Director of Department of Work Safety under the Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs with the desire that through this conference, management in Hydropower company will be able to hazard identification, fully assess risks to apply appropriate control measures, and at the same time able to respond to incidents promptly and effectively.
Next, PsD. Le Ba Hung – SEN’s Senior Consultant on Process safety presented about safety major event at hydropower plants, introducing the risk assessment procedure for hydroelectric plants along with the Advanced method of risk identification and risk assessment for Safety – Health – Environment in Vietnam and around the world, for example using bowtie analysis method through the use of BowtieXP software in risk assessment of hydropower plants in Vietnam.
After that, Mr. Nguyen Tai Son – Senior Consulting on dam safety – Member of Vietnam Federation of Civil Engineering Association had a very valuable sharing about the actual dam safety management experience in Vietnam nowadays. He also gave the status of the management and organization of the Government, the quality of the survey – design, construction of dams in Vietnam, the management and operation of dam safety in our country, as well as emphasized the importance to train professional personnel or use a reputable consulting organization to enhance the dam safety management of dams in Vietnam.
Finally, Mr. Tran Phi Hung – SEN’s Senior Consultant on Health – Safety – Environment and Emergency Response shared on experiences in organizing emergency situations in the hydropower industry and emphasized the relationship between risk assessment and emergency responses, emergency response plans and ways to manage roles, responsibilities of related parties, contact information, training in emergency response for companies in the electricity and hydroelectric industry.
The online conference on “Risk assessment and Emergency response in the hydropower industry” was a great success with the contribution and discussion of the participants during the conference and content regarding the next conference was also well received by SEN.
