More than 80 percent of the waste is from municipal sources with the balance from industries and other sources. Waste is mainly generated from urban areas, taking more than 50 percent of the country’s municipal waste. With increasing urbanization and economic growth, the solid waste generation rates will continue to increase in Vietnam and if not properly managed it will pose a significant threat to the public health and environment.
